Pierrot Labat Method

To all those who are interested in "Pierrot Labat Method" that is to say in training basic soccer skills (attitudes and footwork) and the players' mental:

I organize in early July an information meeting followed by an introductory course to train basic soccer skills: attitudes and technical moves that must be worked from an early age and throughout a career at the highest level.

It is an opportunity for young players to learn how to control the ball instead of playing in the street or against a wall. It is not necessary to be expert to learn or improve it. You just need to know what the player needs to do, how to do it and especially what he should not do in order to avoid bad habits.

The father or older brother is very often the "man of the situation", the first educator or coach.

It is also an opportunity for trainee or advanced players to practice the fundamentals.

From first contacts with the ball to retirement from playing, I grouped, in a written and visual methodology, all the basic movements of the soccer player (attitudes and footwork) commonly called “basic soccer skills.”

I implemented it for many years from the lowest to the highest level with many positive results and I would like to try to transmit it to passionate educators or coaches through training.

What is " Pierrot Labat Method "?

This is a way to work analytically the fundamentals of soccer which are attitudes and footwork, more commonly called basic soccer skills without which it is not possible to properly practice this sport.

This work must be done individually or with a small number of players. Each attitude or technical movement must be repeated several times, after being first:

      1 - shown on video

      2 - repeated many times

      3 - corrected if necessary

      4 - repeated again

Any attitude or technical movement must be mastered before being incorporated into a sequence and a game.

Following "Pierrot Labat Method", the soccer player’s training includes FOUR parts:

1- Technique

2- Tactics

3- Physique

4- Mental

However, without technique, the player cannot work or work badly tactics. Physique serves only to run and without the mental, related to psychology, the player cannot do anything.

That is why the last thirty years, I specialized on working technique because it is an essential part of the fundamental skills together with psychological support.

My Master in the field, Ante Mladinic, was a prominent coach of the "European Brazilians", the Yugoslavian players in the 80’s.

During my career as trainer, I have been lucky to have some prestigious "guinea pigs" to train and/or support during their own careers as world champions, Bixente Lizarazu and Christophe Dugary, an a couple of years later, Zinedine Zidane.

They were followed by many other players and each of them, at his level, showed me the importance of this approach to technique and psychological support in their training and careers. This is why I made several DVDs on specific movements and wrote a book to share my experience in this area and particularly on the psychological part.

Another feature of the method: any attitude and/or movement must be seen in the game at anytime.

Regarding the mental sphere, the educator or coach must always have a positive attitude and insist primarily on what the player does well and on his qualities, before focusing on its shortcomings.

Two "objectives" supports are very useful in this field: video and character/psychological profile.

The video shows what the player does.

The character/psychological profile shows what he can do (his potential) and what he wants to do (his will).

However, ones should never forget that it is not possible “to transform a draft horse into a racehorse” but each one can improve in its specificity by working his dominant qualities.

Essential qualities of the educator or coach who wants to implement "Pierrot Labat Method" in his trainings:

1 - passion

2 - sharp eye

3 - listening

Passion makes you active and not passive in training.

The sharp eye allows you:

1- Before training: to assess his qualities and therefore his potential, which should determine the priority work to improve.

2- While training: to control the implementation of the work requested during training and match and above all to make the necessary corrections.

Listening allows to determine if the player wants to work or not and if he understands the movement to work.

Método Labat Pierrot

Para todos los que estén interesados ??en el "Método Pierrot Labat", es decir, en la formación de los gestos básicos del futbolista (actitudes y juego de pies) y el mental de los jugadores:

Organizo a principios de julio una reunión de información seguida de un curso de introducción para entrenar los gestos básicos de fútbol: las actitudes y los movimientos técnicos que se deben trabajar desde una edad temprana y a lo largo de una carrera al más alto nivel.

Es una oportunidad para que los jóvenes jugadores aprendan a controlar la pelota en lugar de jugar por la calle o contra una pared. No es necesario ser experto para aprender o mejorarlo. Sólo tiene que saber lo que el jugador tiene que hacer, cómo hacerlo y sobre todo lo que no debe hacer para evitar tomar malos hábitos.

El hermano o el padre es muy a menudo el "hombre de la situación", el primer educador o entrenador.

También es una oportunidad para que los jugadores avanzados  o en formación puedan practicar los fundamentos.

Desde los primeros contactos con la pelota al retiro del futbol, agrupé en una metodología escrita y visual, todos los movimientos básicos del futbolista (actitudes y trabajo de pies) comúnmente denominado "gestos básicos del fútbol."

Implementé durante muchos años diversos niveles de complejidad con resultados muy satisfatorios y me gustaría tratar de transmitirlo a apasionados educadores o entrenadores a través del entrenamiento.

¿Qué es el " Método Pierrot Labat "?

Esta es una manera de trabajar analíticamente los fundamentos del fútbol que son las actitudes y trabajo de pies, más comúnmente llamado gestos básicos del futbolista sin las cuales no es posible practicar este deporte adecuadamente.

Este trabajo debe realizarse de forma individual o con un número reducido de jugadores. Cada movimiento preciso o técnico debe repetirse varias veces:

1 - se muestra en el vídeo

2 - se repite varias veces

3 - se corrige si fuese necesario

4 - se repite nuevamente

Cualquier gesto o movimiento técnico deben dominarse antes de incorporarse a una secuencia y un juego.

Tras el "Método Pierrot Labat", la formación del jugador de fútbol incluye cuatro habilidades:

1- La técnica

2- La táctica

3- La física

4- El mental

Sin técnica, el jugador no puede trabajar para desplegar adecuadamente la táctica. La física sóla sirve para correr y sin el mental, relacionado con la psicología, el jugador no puede hacer nada.

Es por eso que durante los últimos treinta años, me especialicé en el trabajo de la técnica, una parte esencial de las gestos fundamentales, junto con el apoyo psicológico.

Mi maestro en el campo, Ante Mladinic, era un entrenador destacado de los "brasileños de Europa", los jugadores yugoslavos en los años 80.

Durante mi carrera como entrenador, tuve la suerte de tener algunos prestigiosos "conejillos de indias" para entrenar y / o apoyar durante su propia carrera como campeones del mundo, Bixente Lizarazu y Christophe Dugary, un poco más tarde, Zinedine Zidane.

Ellos fueron seguidos por muchos otros jugadores y cada uno de ellos, a su nivel, me mostraron la importancia de este enfoque de la técnica y del apoyo psicológico en su entrenamiento y las carreras. Por eso, hice varios DVDs en gestos específicos y escribió un libro para compartir mi experiencia en esta área y especialmente en la parte psicológica.

Otra característica del método: cualquier posición y / o gesto debe ser visto en el juego en cualquier momento.

En cuanto a la esfera mental, el educador o entrenador siempre deben tener una actitud positiva e insistir sobre todo en lo que el jugador hace bien y en sus cualidades, antes de centrarse en sus defectos.

Dos soportes "objetivos" son muy útiles en este campo: el vídeo y el carácter psicológico.

El video muestra lo que hace el jugador.

El perfil psicológico muestra lo que el jugador puede hacer (su potencial) y lo que quiere hacer (su voluntad).

Sin embargo, nunca deben olvidar que no es posible "transformar un caballo de tiro en un caballo de carreras", pero cada uno puede mejorar en su especificidad, trabajando sus cualidades dominantes.

Cualidades esenciales del educador o entrenador que quiere implementar el " Método Pierrot Labat" en sus entrenamientos:

1 – la pasión

2 – la mirada

3 – la escucha

La pasión permite al educador estar activo y no pasivo en el entrenamiento.

La mirada le permite:

1- Antes del entrenamiento: evaluar sus cualidades y por lo tanto su potencial, que debe determinar el trabajo prioritario para mejorar.

2- En colaboración: controlar la ejecución de los ejercicios solicitados durante el entrenamiento y el partido y sobre todo para hacer las correcciones necesarias.

La escucha le permite determinar si el jugador quiere trabajar o no, y si entiende el gesto para trabajar.
